Creating Taxonomy Categories

The RCCL uses taxonomy terms to create categories for content types such as Articles, Events, and Person. If your website requires any of these content types, it's a good practice to create taxonomy terms before building pages.

Taxonomy terms are required for article and event entries and are also used to display associated content inside various page components. Additionally, some Drupal views use taxonomy categories for filtering content.

Available Taxonomies

To view and edit all available taxonomy categories, go to 'Structure > Taxonomy'. The RCCL includes the following taxonomies:

• Campus Location
• Department
• Event Type
• Key Message Points (for news content types)
• People Grouping (for staff directory views)
• Publication (for Media Mentions content types)
• Staff Directory Unit
• Topic (for news content types)
• Topic: Mini-site (for Mini-Site content type listings)
• Unit (for external university units)
